Papademos Wins Greek 2012 Budget Vote

Greek Prime Minister Lucas Papademoswon approval for the 2012 budget from parliament in Athens today, receiving a mandate to push through budget measures necessary to secure financing designed to avert a collapse of the economy and keep Greece in the euro. A total of 258 lawmakers in the 300-strong chamber supported the confidence motion and 41 were against, Parliament Speaker Filippos Petsalnikos said in remarks carried live on state-run Vouli TV today. A total of 299 deputies voted in the poll.
